Tour Highlights

Keflavík Airport
Keflavík Airport (KEF), is the largest airport in Iceland and the country's main hub for international transportation. The airport is located around 50 km (31 mi) southwest of Reykjavík. Most international journeys to or from Iceland pass through this airport. The main carrier at Keflavík is Icelandair, which has the airport as its main hub. Most domestic flights use the much smaller Reykjavík Airport, which lies around 3 km (1.9 mi) from Reykjavík's city centre.

Reykjavík
Reykjavík is the capital and largest city of Iceland. It is located in southwestern Iceland, on the southern shore of Faxaflói bay. Its latitude is 64°08' N, making it the world's northernmost capital in the world. With a population of around 131,136 (and 233,034 in the Capital Region),it is the center of Iceland's cultural, economic, and governmental activity, and is a popular tourist destination. Reykjavík is believed to be the location of the first permanent settlement in Iceland, which, according to Landnámabók, was established by Ingólfur Arnarson in AD 874. Until the 19th century, there was no urban development in the city location. The city was founded in 1785 as an official trading town and grew steadily over the following decades, as it transformed into a regional and later national centre of commerce, population, and governmental activities. It is among the cleanest, greenest, and safest cities in the world.

This F-15C was stationed in Iceland between January 1986 to July 1994. The ‘Black Knights’ were the only USAF ‘light grey’ Eagle unit to actively use CFT’s in service.
